Be Thankful. Always!

BE THANKFUL! Gratitude to God is essential, but not only for the the sake of the good things that He bestows. The Christ-follower is called to be grateful and not content for just what God gives but for who HE is. This year has brought its challenges, but Jesus remains the same.

“Rejoice always, never stop praying, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

It is God’s will that we be thankful. We are commanded to be thankful. We may struggle to be thankful for everything, but we can be thankful in everything. We should be thankful not only for what He gives, but also for what He withholds.

When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude. G.K. Chesterton

According to Chesterton, here are the two options. We can take all the blessings He has given us, including our forgiveness and God Himself with gratitude or we can take them for granted. God’s will is that we will be thankful in everything.
